So Emmanuel Adebayor's Tottenham journey is finally over - but it seems the frustration and unending questions surrounding the 31-year-old striker will simply be passed on to another set of fans.
Indeed, after Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood's comments suggesting he would take the Togolose forward back in a heartbeat, as reported by Sky Sports among others, supporters in the Midlands have got to debating whether he would be right for the Villans.
Could that side be Aston Villa?
Supporters are naturally torn. The Villa faithful appear to want another centre-forward as those brought in this summer haven't shown any signs of being prolific Premier League goalscorers just yet. As evidenced by his time at Spurs, though, Adebayor is a controversial character - and many won't be happy if the controversy that follows him comes to Villa Park.
Here's what Aston Villa fans have been saying on Twitter, then, following the 31-year-old's Tottenham release:
Can't see #avfc going back in for Adebayor. Too much trouble!— Andy (@AndyVilla80) September 13, 2015
Looks like Adebayor might be on his way. I'm sure Traore, Gil and Sinclair would like working with him and we need a CF. #avfc— Matthew Rogers (@sportslawmatt) September 13, 2015
