Cardiff City manager Russell Slade has told Wales Online that winger Sammy Ameobi has a future at Newcastle United after his display against Huddersfield Town.
The Bluebirds kept up their unbeaten start to the season with a 2-0 win over Huddersfield this afternoon, and now sit second in the Championship table.
Goals from Anthony Pilkington and Joe Mason handed Cardiff their victory, but a substitute was instrumental in both goals - Sammy Ameobi.
The 23-year-old winger is currently on a season-long loan deal in South Wales, and was introduced on the hour mark as a replacement for Kenwyne Jones.
Ameobi then set up both goals in an impressive cameo display for Cardiff, as he hopes to impress parent club Newcastle during his season in the Championship.
Now, his manager Russell Slade has told Wales Online that he sees Ameobi having a bright future not only at Newcastle, but at the top level of English football.
"Sammy’s impact was excellent. He is getting stronger, fitter and had a hand in goals," said Slade. "He has a future at Newcastle and the top level," he added.
Ameobi impressed in fleeting displays for Newcastle last season, but new manager Steve McClaren clearly felt that the winger needed a season of regular first-team football to help him develop.
Whilst he is only a substitute at Cardiff right now, it's clear that his performances are catching Slade's eye - and it surely won't be long before he's a permanent fixture of the Bluebirds' side.
