The midfielder is currently enjoying a loan spell at Barnsley.
At the moment the Republic of Ireland and England are battling over the long-term allegiance of Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish. The Solihull born playmaker has already represented the Irish at youth level but now talks of senior call-ups have emerged and he is refusing to commit just yet.
Himself a former Villa youth teammate of Grealish’s it is reported by The Irish Times that Crowley has agreed to play for the Ireland Under-21s in their European Championships qualification campaign.
Crowley has been likened to Jack Wilshere in playing style and has already represented England at under-16, under-17 and under-19 level – although also represented Ireland as an under-17.
He has been in great form during a loan spell from Arsenal at League One side Barnsley and it appears that form has seen him receive this call-up.
The 18-year-old would be joining the likes of West Ham midfielder Josh Cullen and Reading defender and son of Martin Keown, Niall.
Time will tell if there is truth to these rumours and if Crowley has indeed turned his back on England but whatever he decides Arsenal fans will surely wish him well for the future.
