The midfielder spent half of last season injured, the other half on loan at Derby County.
Manchester United took to training yesterday full of hope and optimism after a positive day in the newsstands, for the first time in a while.
It came after David De Gea signed a new four-year deal at the club, just over a week since he almost made a move to Real Madrid.
The news was greeted with much fanfare by United fans and the club in general and De Gea looked in very good spirits during training.
However, the presence of another young man was just as interesting, as Jesse Lingard got involved.
The 22-year-old has become something of a forgotten man in recent times. He suffered a serious knee injury on the opening day of last season and has not played for the club in an official fixture since. He spent the second part of last season on loan with Derby County and with the emergency loan window open, he might just get a chance to play some football again.
However, Louis van Gaal is a big fan of Lingard – who can play in multiple positions across the pitch.
It may be 13 months since his last appearance for United in anger but Lingard will be hoping to impress on the training ground and get back involved as soon as possible.
