There was a mixture of disbelief, praise and admiration after the West Ham loanee scored on his Norwich debut.
West Ham United fans couldn't quite believe their eyes or ears on Saturday afternoon.
Indeed, both Matt Jarvis (loaned out to Norwich City) and Stewart Downing (sold to Middlesbrough) scored within just five minutes of each other. Both departees left West Ham this summer and there was a hint of irony that both would net so close to each other.
Downing is one thing, though, as he wanted to leave the Hammers. Jarvis, who has struggled to break into the West Ham side due to injuries and form, is quite another.
He was superb for Norwich on his debut and supporters in east London were asking where that kind of performance was at Upton Park.
The Canaries faithful, meanwhile, were absolutely delighted. Many Norwich fans had criticised the Deadline Day loan signing of the 29-year-old winger but some were eating their words after just one game, with Jarvis playing superbly in the 3-0 win against Bournemouth.
Hopefully for Norwich, the wide man will continue to produce at Carrow Road. West Ham supporters, though, may have to get used to seeing him perform away from the capital - unless they can find a place for him instead of the likes of Michail Antonio, Victor Moses and more.

Wes a class apart from the rest as usual. Superb debut from Jarvis also, take back what I said about him on deadline day! #ncfc— Ewan Wilson (@ewanwilson99) September 12, 2015
I know I moaned about Jarvis signing, but I take it all back, he was superb! #ncfc— Daniel Studd (@Studdyy) September 12, 2015

Jarvis having a blinder for Norwich by the sound of it. Any #whufc fans surprised?— Andy Robinson (@Espio1) September 12, 2015
Always rated Jarvis; needed more game time and was low on confidence (being mocked by fans can have hardly helped) #WHUFC— Cameron Broome (@Cameron_Broome) September 12, 2015
Mart Jarvis has officially done more on his Norwich debut than in his entire west ham career. Good for him though. #whufc— Steve (@Steve__1895) September 12, 2015
Jarvis scores for Norwich and now Downing scores for Boro #WHUFC— Andrew Burnett (@northwesthammer) September 12, 2015
