Leeds United boss comments on chances of new signing Jordan Botaka playing v Brentford

Uwe Rosler says he will assess the winger this morning before deciding whether to play the winger.

Leeds United take on Uwe Rosler’s former team Brentford today in the Championship with fans of the Yorkshire club rightly excited about the possibility of seeing a new signing in action.

The player in question is Jordan Botaka. The DR Congo international was snapped up from Dutch side Excelsior Rotterdam before the Transfer Window shut and Leeds fans have been purring over his extravagant YouTube videos ever since.

However, despite his talent, Leeds boss Uwe Rosler has now confirmed that Botaka is not assured of a place in the match-day squad.

Speaking to the Leeds United official YouTube channel the German head coach had this to say regarding Botaka’s potential to play in the game with Brentford today:

“Obviously our new signing Jordan. We have to assess him because he has not trained for a while. He did his medical ten days ago and then travelled to Africa, has not played, came back on time.

“So we have to assess him he is in the big squad for tomorrow but we will have to assess tomorrow morning after he has slept the night.”

Rosler certainly has a point. Botaka has been on a fairly mammoth international break. He travelled with Congo to the Central African Republic this week and has not yet had a full week of training with his new club.

Botaka however would love to feature, in particular because of the opposition. Brentford boss Marinus Dijkhuizen was previously boss at Excelsior and in charge of Botaka.

So the flying winger would have loved to get one over on his former boss.
