Everton fans react on Twitter to Barkley's performance against Chelsea

Everton Goodison 2

Everton defeated Chelsea 3-1 on Saturday but what did Toffees fans make of Ross Barkley's contribution?

There was no doubt who the man-of-the-match was after Everton destroyed Chelsea 3-1 at Goodison Park on Saturday.

Steven Naismith scored all three goals for the Toffees and ensured Chelsea’s miserable start to the new season continued. But Ross Barkley also played his part and the young England international deserved plenty of credit despite not always looking at his best.

So far this season Barkley has scored two goals and provided four assists in just six matches, and after setting up two of Naismith’s strikes it is clear the 21-year-old is set for a huge season under manager Roberto Martinez.

Barkley is still young and should be allowed to develop at his own rate, but after so long under the spotlight already it seems he is about to play far more consistently and that only bodes well for Everton and their supporters.

After the match we took to Twitter to see what Everton fans thought of Barkley’s performance against Chelsea and you can read a selection of what we found below:
