Tottenham hero Van der Vaart believes Son will star for Spurs.
He said: “Spurs is not a bad move for Son. He was a great talent when I was playing with him at Hamburg and I think he has everything to be a success at Tottenham.”
Van der Vaart, a legend at White Hart Lane, played alongside side Son when he was at Hamburg, prior to the South Korean international’s move to Leverkusen.
He has since made the switch to Tottenham, and having received international clearance, the attacker is available to make his debut for the Lilywhites this weekend.
He is expected to feature in some capacity against Sunderland on Sunday, and although a substitutes role is most likely due to the lack of training he has done with his new teammates, fans cannot wait to see Son in action.
He is the kind of talented wide goalscorer who the club have lacked for so many years, and he should take much of the strain off Harry Kane’s back in the current goal drought the forward is enduring.
Van der Vaart believes he will be a success at White Hart Lane, and if Son can have the same kind of impact in North London as the Dutchman did, then Spurs fans will be singing his name before too long.
