Mauricio Pochettino provides Tottenham fitness update - it's not great news

Three players are out, but Heung-Min Son is in line for debut.

Mauricio Pochettino has provided updates on the fitness of some of Tottenham Hotspur’s key men in his pre-match press conference today, as covered by the official Spurs Twitter account.

The Argentine revealed that playmaker Christian Eriksen is close to shaking off the knee injury that has seen him miss Spurs’ last two games, but has declared him unfit for the trip to Sunderland.

Mousa Dembele is listed as a ‘doubt’ after failing to recover from an ankle injury sustained in Tottenham’s goalless draw with Everton.

Summer signing Clinton N’Jie is also said to be close, but would appear not yet ready to feature on Sunday, in what will come as a blow for the Spurs faithful.

On a more positive note, former Bayer Leverkusen winger Heung-Min Son looks set to make his Spurs bow, with Pochettino stating: “Son is in better condition because he played, scored three for South Korea and trained well. He’s available.”

Tottenham fans will be itching to see the pacey Korean in action, as they wait for the season to really take off for the North London club, and he could well be the man to make it happen.
