Hugo Lloris urges Tottenham players to ‘get on with it’ amid striker crisis

Tottenham have just one recognised striker in their senior squad.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has discussed the striker issue at White Hart Lane, and urged Spurs’ players to ‘get on with’ their season.

The goalkeeper said: “The chairman works with the manager on transfers, they know what they want and where they want to be. As players, we just have to get on with it. We have a good squad, a good mentality and a good philosophy. We now need to keep going.”

In Harry Kane, there is just one recognised striker that Mauricio Pochettino can call upon this season, having failed to bring in another forward before the close of the transfer window at the beginning of this month.

Summer signings Clinton N’Jie and Heung-Min Son can play upfront, but they are natural wingers and do not provide the same kind of goal threat as an out-and-out striker.

As Kane has yet to score in the Premier League this term, the pressure on Tottenham has increased since the start of the campaign without a win to their name.

If Kane is not scoring it is hard to see how goals will come, and without goals how are the Lilywhites meant to pick up points?

However, Lloris doesn’t believe this is too much of an issue, claiming that the players need to just get on with their job. He is adamant that they have a good playing squad and a strong philosophy, and if they keep playing as they have been, then surely results will start to come.

The North London club have yet to really start performing this season, and when they finally get to 100% match sharpness, there is no denying that points will be picked up.

However, they will need to start performing soon if they are to move away from the bottom of the table, and begin challenging the top four spots that many want to see Spurs achieve this season.
