Paul Gascoigne reflects on playing for Rangers against Celtic in the Old Firm derby.

Former Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United midfielder Paul Gascoigne has revealed on the Fantasy Football Club show on Sky Sports 3 on Friday evening how he used to get the better of Celtic defenders when he was at Rangers.

Gascoigne, who started his career at Newcastle before joining Tottenham in 1988, played for Scottish giants Rangers from 1995 to 1998.

The former Newcastle and Spurs star played well for the Gers during his time at Ibrox and featured in the Old Firm derby against Celtic.

The 48-year-old, who also turned out for English clubs Middlesbrough and Everton, has revealed how he used to distract Celtic defenders and get the better of them.

“If I don’t know what I am going to do with this ball, then you (the defender) have got no chance,” the former England international midfielder said on the Fantasy Football Club show on Sky Sports 3 on Friday evening. “I would drive them nuts by just talking to them and pointing to the stands.”

During his time at Rangers, Gascoigne won the Scottish league title twice, and the Scottish Cup and the Scottish League Cup once each.
