Etienne Capoue hits out at Pochettino, says he didn't speak to him

The Watford midfielder left Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Watford's Etienne Capoue has hit out at Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, accusing him of not speaking to him and never telling him his plans, according to the London Evening Standard.

The Frenchman didn't live up to expectations in north London last season and was shipped out by Tottenham this summer as a result.

He has since moved on to the Hornets and Capoue insists Pochettino did not keep him in the loop about his role within the Spurs squad. The 27-year-old feels he was unlucky under Andre Villas-Boas - who favoured him - and Tim Sherwood but has hit out at Pochettino.

The Watford midfielder is quoted as saying by the Standard: "Pochettino did not tell me why he did not play me. He did not call me and say, ‘Etienne, this is what I am doing’. He did not speak to me. I wasn’t in his plans.

"I worked every day for him to give me a chance. I pushed myself every day. But he didn’t give me a chance. I tried to play good football. It was not enough for Tottenham."

Capoue is an interesting case as his form at Watford has been good so far, with the Frenchman certainly impressing more than Nabil Bentaleb has at this term at White Hart Lane.

But it can't be denied that Capoue certainly failed to impress on plenty of occasions last season.

That said, if the then Tottenham midfielder was out of favour under Pochettino - and wasn't being kept properly informed by his manager - it's understandable to see why he wouldn't be playing the best football of his life.
