Aston Villa send Jed Steer on loan to Huddersfield Town

The young goalkeeper leaves Villa Park in search of first-team football.

Aston Villa have allowed young goalkeeper Jed Steer to leave the club on loan in a bid to gain experience, as confirmed on the club’s official website.

The 22-year old joins Huddersfield Town on a one-month loan deal, in what is his third spell away from Villa Park following previous short-term loans at Doncaster Rovers and Yeovil Town.

The former Norwich City youngster was signed on a free transfer in the summer of 2013 but has appeared just four times for Villa’s senior side, including a Premier League debut in a 1-0 defeat to Burnley.

Steer finds himself behind Brad Guzan and Mark Bunn in the pecking order at Villa Park, and will struggle to see any minutes this season.

The fact that he has made his Premier League debut and has only ever been allowed out on short-term loan deals does, however, offer an indication as to the high-regard in which he is held at Villa.

He joins Huddersfield as emergency cover for injured goalkeeper Joe Murphy and could make his debut as early as tomorrow against Cardiff City.
