Finnish outfit Seinajoen Jalkapallokerho, or SJK for those not fluent in Suomi, were in action today – taking on KuPS in the Finnish Veikkausliga.
So why would any Liverpool fan care about that?
Because one of their hottest talents scored the goal for SJK in the game, just 16 minutes into his debut.
Liverpool snapped up young midfielder Allan Rodrigues de Souza this summer from Brazilian side Internacional and he immediately began training with the first-team at Melwood.
Unfortunately the player is not yet eligible for a work permit to play in the United Kingdom so he was sent out on loan to the obscure Finnish outfit – who will be fighting for the title this season.
Allan, a gifted midfielder, did not mess around in introducing himself to his new fans – even though he had to play on a snow covered pitch, perhaps for the first time.
His goal was an absolute screamer that Philippe Coutinho would have been proud of. He picked up the ball on the corner of the box, did a little Brazilian shuffle, before firing in a left-peg curler beyond the outstretched goalie.
SJK ended up drawing the match 1-1, taking them to the top of the league.
Liverpool look to have unearthed a real gem in this young starlet.
