Swiss attacker Breel Embolo has been speaking about turning down a chance to leave Basel during the transfer window.
Swiss newspaper Blick has reported Embolo did have an opportunity to make a switch, with German club Borussia Moenchengladbach making an offer of £9 million.
Embolo has said he feels he wants to stay at Basel and is happy to stay put.
He said: "I decided for FC Basel. I did not want to go away at last minute away because I want to develop myself here."
His decision at this stage of his career is a sensible one. Embolo is only 18-years-old. yet already he is a Swiss international, featuring against England at Wembley this week.
Embolo needs to play regularly and show his breakthrough campaign last season can be built on, and establish his reputation further.
His price tag will continue to rise with solid performances, and any side looking to tempt him away during the January transfer window could just bag a bargain before he becomes the superstar he is touted in his homeland to be on the way to becoming.
