Aston Villa were busy on transfer deadline day, with the main aim clearly that of strengthening their defence.
The club snapped up two defenders from two entirely different ends of the spectrum during the recent international break.
Firstly there was Joleon Lescott. The experienced defender is a life-long Villa fan and was at rival club West Brom until the switch. Villa brought him in to add some experience to the back-line which had gone missing with the departure of Ron Vlaar this summer.
The other player is Tiago Ilori. The English-born Portugal youth international is an exciting and versatile option for the future snapped up on loan from Liverpool until the end of the season.
Both will certainly add depth to the defensive department as Villa look to improve on their flirt with relegation from last season.
Now the pair have been snapped in training for the first time as Villa players at Bodymoor Heath. The pair got in on the action as Villa get ready for this weekend’s tie with Leicester City.
Both will no doubt be hoping to get a chance to start the game this weekend, with Lescott potentially set to partner Micah Richards in an all former Manchester City partnership at the back.
