Houlihan Lokey, the international investment bank, has announced that Doug Rooney has joined the firm as a Managing Director in the firm’s Strategic Consulting business. He is based in Chicago.

Rooney joins from Benchmark Strategy Group, where he advised financial sponsors, mid-cap family-held entities, and public multinational companies across a range of industry sectors. He has also served as Director of Development, North America for Compagnie de Saint-Gobain, where he was responsible for the M&A portfolio and strategic planning activities for its North American operations. While at Saint-Gobain, he was also General Manager of several operating subsidiaries, including the Norton Construction Products business and Saint-Gobain Superabrasives, North America. Mr. Rooney began his career at McKinsey & Company, focusing on strategy, organizational effectiveness, and operational improvements for clients in Europe and the U.S.

“Doug’s hire expands Strategic Consulting’s expertise in the industrials sector, where he has served both large- and mid-cap companies and where Houlihan Lokey has a significant, active investment banking presence,” said Steve Sheridan, Head of Strategic Consulting. “Doug’s substantial experience includes both corporate development work and the successful implementation of operational improvement programs as a line manager and as a consultant for a wide range of clients. He brings valuable senior leadership to our industrials practice within Strategic Consulting. We’re delighted that he has joined the firm,” he added.

“As an integrated element of a broader advisory firm, especially one with a leadership position in industrials coverage, Houlihan Lokey’s Strategic Consulting business was especially appealing to me,” said Mr. Rooney. “Whether our clients are considering a strategic acquisition or simply seeking to uncover operational enhancements to their current business model, I’m excited to partner with my colleagues across the firm and contribute to the intellectual capital and expertise that Houlihan Lokey delivers to its clients globally,” he continued.

Rooney holds a B.A. with honors from Wesleyan University and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
