Taking a closer look at three West Ham United youngsters who should feature against Leicester City in the League Cup.

When West Ham United’s players return from international duty they will be fully focused on building on their outstanding victory against Liverpool just before the pause in domestic action.

But shortly after, the Hammers will have another competition to navigate in the form of the Capital One Cup, and much like the Europa League before it, the tournament will give West Ham manager Slaven Bilic the chance to play some of his talented next generation.

Here we take a look at three young West Ham players who should feature against Leicester City later this month:

Martin Samuelsen

Martin Samuelsen arrived from Manchester City during the summer and he quickly showed just what a talented young player he is in a series of impressive outings during pre-season.

The 18-year-old Norwegian has only appeared twice for the Hammers to date but the upcoming match against the Foxes should give him the minutes he fully deserves.

Reece Oxford

Reece Oxford burst onto the scene with a simply outstanding display against Arsenal on the opening weekend of the season.

At just 16 the defensive midfielder put in a performance that suggested he had been playing in the top flight for years rather than a matter of minutes.

After a nine-minute cameo against Liverpool he should be back in a starting role for the cup match.

Josh Cullen

Josh Cullen is another youngster who came off the bench against the Reds and after three Europa League appearances the 19-year-old central midfielder deserves his first domestic start against Claudio Ranieri’s side.
