Taking a closer look at three young West Bromwich Albion players who could feature in the League Cup against Norwich City.
West Bromwich Albion will be focusing solely on climbing up the Premier League table when their players return from international duty this week, but there is also an upcoming Capital One Cup clash with Norwich City to navigate in a fortnight.
That match could allow West Brom manager Tony Pulis the chance to give some of his younger players a run-out and here we consider three Baggies players who could feature:
He may only be 17, but striker Tyler Roberts is already making waves and recently earned a call-up to train with Chris Coleman’s Wales side.
The young forward is a current Wales under-17 international and he has scored three goals for West Brom’s under-21 side to date.
With Adil Nabi heading out on loan to the Indian Super League, Roberts could get a chance to show what he can do for the Baggies before potentially being sent out during the emergency loan window to get regular first-team football at a lower level.
Centre-back Jack Fitzwater was named Academy Player of the Year at the end of last season and he could get a run out for West Brom later this month.
His versatility is such that he is also comfortable playing at right-back or as a defensive midfielder and much like Roberts he could get some minutes under his belt against Norwich.
Currently on loan at The Hawthorns from Arsenal, 20-year-old winger Serge Gnabry has had to wait patiently for his chances under Pulis.
The young German came off the bench for the last 12 minutes against Chelsea but was an unused substitute the following week against Stoke City.
However, the League Cup should give him the chance to start and show just what a talent he is.
