Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly keep a close eye on the big match in Serbia this weekend.
According to a report from website fudbal.hotsport Tottenham Hotspur will send scouts to watch this weekend’s Belgrade derby.
On Saturday afternoon Red Star Belgrade host Partizan Belgrade in a huge match for both sides, and Spurs are said to be interested in some of the players on show.
Red Star are currently top of the Serbian Super Liga table with 20 points from their first eight matches. In contrast, Partizan are five points and two places behind but with a game in hand.
The closing of the summer transfer window means Tottenham will have to make do with the players already at their disposal for the next few months, but the North London club will always be searching for the next big thing and that will seemingly take them to Serbia this weekend.
The latest report mentions six players that could be of interest to Tottenham and the other clubs represented on the day, with three from each side.
From Red Star, 19-year-old attacking midfielder Marko Grujic, 17-year-old striker Luka Jovic and 19-year-old defensive midfielder Srdjan Plavsic are said to be attracting plenty of interest; while from Partizan it is 19-year-old winger Andrija Zivkovic, 18-year-old forward Ivan Saponjic and 23-year-old midfielder Darko Brasanac.
When it comes to Tottenham’s alleged interest it would be no surprise if they are keeping a particularly close eye on strikers Jovic and Saponjic given their impact in the Super Liga to date.
Jovic has scored 10 goals in 35 matches for Red Star and three in eight this season despite being only 17 while Saponjic has netted three times in just four league matches this season and nine in 25 in total.
It would not be the first time teenage strikers have made waves in Serbia before arriving in the Premier League, with Aleksandar Mitrovic the latest example, and with Tottenham in need of more firepower could they be considering a summer move for either striker or even talented winger Zivkovic?
