Tottenham should play Alli, Pritchard and Carter-Vickers against Arsenal in the League Cup

Taking a look at three Tottenham Hotspur players who deserve to feature against Arsenal in the League Cup.

Tottenham Hotspur take on Arsenal in the Capital One Cup later this month and Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has some big decisions to make regarding team selection.

Against other opposition, Tottenham may opt to play a young side given the talented teenagers coming through the ranks, but the White Hart Lane faithful will want to get the better of their North London rivals.

That said, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has used this competition to blood plenty of his own academy graduates and with Premier League and European matches for both sides that could still happen on 23 September.

While neither side is likely to fill their starting XI with teenagers here are three youngsters who should start for Tottenham against the Gunners:

Alex Pritchard

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder is ready to make his mark at Tottenham and this match is the perfect opportunity.

Old enough to not be a risk but young enough to have the bit between his teeth, the England under-21 international will know he has the next few months to prove he deserves a prolonged run in the match-day squad rather than another stint out on loan come the new year.

Dele Alli

Dele Alli may only be 19 but he already looks a class act so expect him to start against Arsenal.

The former MK Dons midfielder has already scored his first Tottenham goal and what better way to increase the love the fans feel for him than by putting in a performance to remember against Wenger’s men?

Cameron Carter-Vickers

Some Tottenham fans may say it is too soon – and too big a match – for a 17-year-old centre-back to play against the Gunners, but Cameron Carter-Vickers is not your average teenager.

The centre-back is phenomenal and if Pochettino is brave enough the young American has the composure and the innate talent to shine against Arsenal.

This match could be a defining moment in his career…and he is certainly ready for it.
