Tottenham have recently been linked with an interest in the Sunderland owned Preston loanee.
It was reported by The Sun that both Spurs and Aston Villa would be tracking the player’s progress during his loan spell at Preston North End, as he slowly emerged as one of the top young English goalkeepers currently in the game.
One Tottenham man who is certainly getting to know Pickford well is Eric Dier. The defender has been playing in front of Pickford for the England under-21s this international break in games against the USA and Norway.
Speaking to TheFA.com Dier had kind words to say about the performances of Pickford:
“Jordan’s a good keeper. He’s been through the age groups fairly quietly with England and he made some good saves.
The talented stopper has been doing well recently and the Sunderland Echo has since reported that The Black Cats see Pickford as a potential long-term option between the sticks at the Stadium of Light.
The report claimed that Sunderland believe Pickford to have the ability to go on and become the first-choice stopper at Sunderland for years to come.
Tottenham however will likely keep track of his progress. With David De Gea lurking on the edge of an exit from Manchester United their number one Hugo Lloris is likely to be target number one for the club.
With that in mind, Pickford and Dier could indeed end up on the same club side some day.
