The England Under-21 international has been rewarded for an excellent start to the season.

The 21-year old’s revised terms will keep him at the club until 2020 in what is the latest in a summer of housekeeping at White Hart Lane.
Nabil Bentaleb, Josh Onomah, Harry Winks and Alex Pritchard have all signed long-term deals in the past few months and it’s a strategy which signals the long-term approach currently being taken at the club.
Dier is the latest young talent to have his future secured and it’s no wonder, given his storming start to the season.
The former Sporting Lisbon man demonstrated his versatility last season with his performances at right-back, and has been employed - with great success - as a holding midfielder this campaign.
Whether Mauricio Pochettino views that as Dier’s best position long-term is unclear, but with Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen clear favourites at centre-back, a holding role looks like being the youngster's best bet for a starting berth.
Reaction on Twitter was unsurprisingly jubilant and we’ve included a selection of the best tweets below:
Glad Eric Dier signed a new contract! Unlike some others, excited to see him develop further in the midfield role; more than capable. #THFC— el wehbi (@ibleedhotspur) September 9, 2015
