Stoke City fans had a summer transfer window to remember as they saw manager Mark Hughes make some wonderful additions to his squad; not least former Bayern Munich and Inter Milan winger Xherdan Shaqiri.
The 23-year-old arrived at the Britannia Stadium last month and has featured twice for Stoke to date, providing an assist in a 1-1 draw with Norwich City and playing 68 minutes of the recent defeat to West Bromwich Albion.
Stoke fans had another chance to watch the player in action earlier this week when his country Switzerland took on England at Wembley in the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.
England ran out 2-0 winners courtesy of goals from Harry Kane and Wayne Rooney, but Shaqiri showed glimpses of what he could do in what was a relatively weak Swiss outfit.
After the match we took to Twitter to see what fans thought of the Stoke player’s contribution and you can read a selection of what we found below:
Those people asking how Stoke got Shaqiri. Last night was an example of how, so overrated, thinks he's a superstar so doesn't have to work.— Chuffer (@ChufferBoom) September 9, 2015
Thought Sterling was MOM tonight. He looked worth 4x the value of that Shaqiri bloke from Stoke. City got a bargin there #foolandhismoney— Robert (@ricikles) September 8, 2015
Shaqiri did well tonight in a poor Switzerland side. A few glimpses of real class— Jon Owen (@Jon1986) September 8, 2015
Shaqiri looked very sharp tonight. Good plus for us #SCFC— kevinchesters (@hairychesters) September 8, 2015
that Shaqiri fella didn't look up to much, bossed by Chris Smalling of all people— Nathan Ford (@ntford1) September 8, 2015
Shaqiri had a steady game too, not a bad game all round that!— Will (@Will_Meigh) September 8, 2015
I've never seen Shaqiri have a good game, granted I've only seen him three or four times but never done a tap.— Neil (@spuddy1878) September 8, 2015
