The French international team-mate of United's new signing believes he will cut it at Old Trafford.
On Transfer Deadline Day Manchester Unite made one of the biggest shock moves in recent transfer history, by splashing the cash on unproven talent Anthony Martial.
Considering his lack of playing time at this level it was certainly a risky piece of business from the manager Louis van Gaal.
However one man who thinks Martial has what it takes is former Manchester United youngster Paul Pogba. The Juventus midfielder is quoted by the London Evening Standard as telling the press in France:
“First of all, I call him ‘old chap’. He’s only 19 but is really mature for his age. I knew him already. He has great qualities and very big potential.
“He’ll offer a lot to the France team and I’m very happy for him. He’s now changed club and will get to know the Premier League. He’ll play with big players and he’ll progress a lot.”
Pogba arrived at Manchester United himself as a top French young talent. He joined up with the club at the age of 16, a few years younger than Martial, and for a fraction of the price after arriving from Le Havre.
He never made it at United, although probably would have. Manchester United fans will be hoping that Martial can become as inspirational a talent as Pogba, but then sticks around a little longer than the midfielder.
