Taking a closer look at three young Newcastle United players who should be given a chance against Sheffield Wednesday.
Steve McClaren’s side is currently 19th in the Premier League after picking up just two points from their first four matches, but as well as that competition, Newcastle also have an upcoming Capital One Cup clash with Sheffield Wednesday to navigate.
Here we take a look at three young Newcastle players who could feature in that match:
The most obvious name on this list, 19-year-old Rolando Aarons must start this match – and plenty more besides – as he bids to earn a new long-term contract at the club.
The winger started in the last round against Northampton Town and should feature against the Championship side.
Lubomir Satka is a 19-year-old centre-back who made his debut for Newcastle in last season’s FA Cup game against Leicester City.
The Slovakian under-21 international is highly regarded at St James’ Park and the game against Wednesday will give McClaren the perfect chance to see what he can do in senior competitive action.
With Adam Armstrong currently excelling out on loan, 19-year-old centre-forward Tom Heardman has the chance to show what he can do if selected.
The target-man has a bright future ahead of him and he could cause plenty of problems if sent on with time running out.
