Aston Villa and Manchester City fans react on Twitter to Fabian Delph's nightmare England appearance

Manchester City's Fabian Delph lasted just 20 seconds for England.

We would say Fabian Delph can't catch a break right now, but that may only curse him further.

You could not be blamed for thinking former club Aston Villa put a hex on him after he walked out on them in the summer to sign for Manchester City.

Fans had labelled him a snake after the remarkable u-turn, having pledged his future to Villa a week earlier.

His appearance for England against Switzerland was a disaster last night, injured just seconds in and substituted off for Ross Barkley.

This gif quite accurately summed up his performance, never really getting started and providing a conundrum for writers compiling player ratings for newspapers and websites up and down the country.

It was the second time in his short career at Manchester City so far that Delph has suffered an injury, previously going down on his debut just minutes into a pre-season friendly.

Aston Villa supporters reacted with predictable amusement to Delph's poor luck, still smarting over his badly handled summer departure...

Delph has played only 17 minutes of Premier League football so far, making a slow start due to his previous hamstring injury, and now faces a further spell on the sidelines.

Manchester City fans reacted with a mixture of feeling sorry for the midfielder, and worry the club has bought a crock...
