Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour said on the Matchday Live with Fletch & Sav show on BT Sport 1 on Saturday morning that he hopes that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane does well this season.
England international Kane has not made the best of starts to the season and has yet to score in the Premier League despite playing in all four of Spurs’ league games.
Kane enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2014-15, scoring 21 goals and creating 27 chances in 34 Premier League matches.
Former Arsenal midfielder Parlour has said that he hopes that the 22-year-old does well this season and has explained why.
"He is a very intelligent player, the way he comes off defenders into little pockets where you can’t pick him up," Parlour said on the Matchday Live with Fletch & Sav show on BT Sport 1 on Saturday morning. "It (his game) is not just about goalscoring, it is about bringing other players into play as well.
"I am hoping he does well this year because we want to see young, English players develop, but he is going to be well marked."
Kane did find the target at the weekend, scoring in England’s 6-0 victory over San Marino away from home in a Euro 2016 Group E qualifier on Saturday evening.
Expectations are high on the Tottenham striker this campaign, but one should not forget that he is only 22 years of age.
However, as his goal against San Marino showed, Kane is brimming with confidence and he will start scoring for Tottenham sooner rather than later.
