Analysing Michael Owen's Liverpool and Manchester United combined XI - Three changes made

The two teams meet in the Premier League this Saturday at Old Trafford.

Ex-Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen has revealed his combined XI for both former clubs ahead of their clash this Saturday, via the Premier League's official Twitter account.

Below is his XI:

We at HITC have cast our eyes over the selection and feel the team can be improved in a few ways...

Mata for Depay

The Dutchman has had a mixed start to life at Old Trafford, after his big-money move in the summer, and has still to find his feet in the Premier League. His excellent showing in both Champions League qualifiers against Brugge have rightly got fans excited but he is yet to really shine on a domestic level, and on current form should be replaced by the Spanish magician.

Schneiderlin for Schweinsteiger

While a midfield duo of Carrick and Schweinsteiger is up there with the best combination of passing ability imaginable, there's a worry about a lack of mobility. Neither are particularly quick across the ground and in this free-flowing, attacking line-up, a player like Schneiderlin would be vital when the opposition are in possession.

Clyne for Darmian

Liverpool get an extra representative in our team, with Clyne preferred to United's summer arrival. Experience in England again works in the favour of the Liverpool man, despite Darmian's solid start to life in the Premier League. While very evenly-matched in terms of their overall game, Clyne is the slightly more dynamic of the two and so edges ahead in our selection.
