The Everton defender showed his eye for goal with this delightful effort during training with the Three Lions
Phil Jagielka has been busy demonstrating that, when it comes to goalscoring defenders, he’s always been partial to something a bit spectacular.
Few Everton fans can forget the 33-year-old’s sensational last gasp strike for the Toffees in a Merseyside derby a few seasons back.
A sublime hit from the edge of the area, the goal salvaged a point and some pride for the Blues in a 1-1 draw at Anfield.
It also demonstrated what Jagielka could do at the other end of the pitch; despite the fact he has managed 15 goals in his Everton career to date.
In 37 games for England, meanwhile, Jagielka has managed three goals in 37 caps, though he has yet to score in 2015.
On the basis of this spectacular volley in training, however, that situation could be about to change.
Facing off against Switzerland this week, the omens look good for a goal from the Toffees stalwart.
With goals against Italy, Peru and San Marino to his name, the stage could be set for another memorable night.
