Just four games into the 2015/16 Premier League season, it is Southampton's Graziano Pelle who boasts the most shots taken from inside the penalty area.
However, having scored on just one occasion to date, the statistics suggest his misfiring form is proving costly for Ronald Koeman's side.
The Italian international made a flying start to life in the Premier League during his debut campaign and, despite being marginally less successful this time round, his inaccuracies in front of goal have halted the Saints progress.

Having averaged 3.5 attempts per appearance (14 times in total) inside the penalty area – more than any of his top-flight counterparts – he has hit the target on just three occasions, while proving inaccurate 11 times.
His two goals - one of which came in a fairly comfortable victory over Norwich, and the other in a 2-2 draw with Newcastle - have helped the club to just five points from a possible 12 this season.
Pelle lags behind the top of the Premier League scoring pile, two goals behind joint leaders Bafetimbi Gomis and Riyad Mahrez, both of whom have netted on four occasions.
Clearly there will be a sense around St. Mary’s that the former Feyenoord frontman could do more to help the club’s recover from its stuttering early-season form.
However, with chances in the penalty area aplenty, the player himself will confident in finishing the season near the top of the Premier League goal scoring charts.
