Newcastle United fans react on Twitter to Sissoko's Crystal Palace comparison

Newcastle fans have not taken kindly to Moussa Sissoko's suggestion Crystal Palace are a bigger club.

It should be interesting when Moussa Sissoko returns to Newcastle this week.

The midfielder has currently been away with the French international squad, although did not make the team for last night's game with Serbia.

This is a selection decision he may have seen coming, complaining to France Football that because he plays for Newcastle he is at a disadvantage to his rivals.

His inclusion of Crystal Palace - referencing former Toon teammate Yohan Cabaye - has served to irk fans, who were of the general opinion already that Sissoko has an inflated opinion of his own ability, compared to what they see week in and week out.

Sissoko said: "Look at those who play in my position. There's Blaise [Matuidi] who did extraordinary things at PSG [last season], Paul [Pogba] who is wonderful for Juventus, Yohan Cabaye who has just signed for Crystal Palace and Morgan Schneiderlin who is now at Manchester United.

"Compared to me, they all play in big clubs."

Sissoko may be regarded highly enough in his homeland to have earned an international call, but his performances for the club, particularly last season while they were on a terrible run under John Carver, did not merit such an honour.

The reaction from a number of fans on social media was that they would like the club to cash in on the former Toulouse man, who claimed in the same interview that Newcastle had rejected approaches for him this summer.

Here is a look at the reaction to his comments...
