Liverpool's Emre Can admits he has areas of his game he needs to improve upon

Can hopes to improve both defensively and in front of goal for the Reds.

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has admitted there are areas of his game that need to be improved upon, both going forward and defending.

Can is at the stage where he is trying to find his role within the Liverpool side having played much of his football last season for the Reds in a defensive role.

He has played a couple of games in the middle of the park for the Reds this season, with a couple of cameo performances in a defensive midfield role but in the most recent games it's hard to see exactly what his role is within the current Liverpool team.

The German told the official Liverpool website: "I want to do more in attack and I know I can improve in that area of my game. I want to do much more going forward in terms of scoring goals and providing assists.

"I’m trying to bring that into my game and I’m working on it in training.

"I always try to do my best and put in the running and help out in defence. I’m determined to work hard in defence and in attack."

Can went on to say that he wants to improve on last season's goal tally. Given that he only found the net once he and the side will both hope he can find the net with a lot more regularity this season. Evidently he is a talented footballer.

He has something that a lot of the Liverpool squad doesn't have and that's power, but it seems pretty difficult accommodating him into this current side and finding a role for him. Maybe a change in the side's system could see the rest get the best out of Can.

Last season his versatility was seen as his strength, but this season it could almost be a problem as they try and find his role in his more preferred central midfield position.
