Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor has posted a photo of himself in training via his Instagram page - the first time he has referenced his situation at the club since deadline day.

The forward did not a clinch a move away from the club, and is intent on seeing out his contract. Yet Spurs did not include him in either their Premier League or Europa League squads.

Adebayor may not be smiling in the picture he uploaded, but the message he posted alongside it showed he has a happy disposition.

It read: " #LifesGood".

The responses were differing - here is one supporting the striker...: "man...I wish u switched clubs soon. Since pochetino doesn't seem to know what talent he is wasting on the bench. All the best. And accept a move away in January."

While this was one reply criticising Adebayor: "Greedy player 18.5 million since he started done nuffin since bin at Spurs... Spurs offered him to rip up contract so he could play at West Ham but wanted Spurs to pay him £5 million buy out first!!!! Such a lazy player we don't want you at the lane!!!!".

Adebayor was not part of the Togo international squad this weekend, failing to report for duty for his side's African Nations Cup qualifier.

He did however post a separate message on Instagram wishing his country well for the match, writing via Instagram: "It's game day for my guys in Djibouti. Unfortunately I won't be there physically with the team, but mentally I am up there. I wish the team all the best. We have great players, now the goal is to play as team and to be strong. Let's get those three points !"

With his message once again describing how he is happy with his lot - he stands to earn £5 million this season despite not playing - it shows what a difficult task Spurs had in shifting him off their books this summer, for as a professional footballer who barely played last season, you might think that getting his career back on track would define his mood instead of money.
