Tottenham Hotspur youngster Connor Ogilvie scores first goal in professional football for Stevenage Borough

Stevenage

The defender struck in the sixth minute against Plymouth Argyle.

Tottenham Hotspur’s academy has received plenty of praise in recent times. The likes of Harry Kane, Ryan Mason and Andros Townsend have all made it good at Spurs after emerging through the ranks.

However, they had to earn their (accidental pun) spurs.

All three of the players in question had various loan spells away from the club. From the likes of Leyton Orient to Millwall, Lorient and Leicester City, these three had to do it the hard way.

One Tottenham youngster now trying to do the same is young left-back Connor Ogilvie.

The 19-year-old joined up with former Tottenham striker Teddy Sheringham at League Two side Stevenage Borough.

The defender struck in a sixth minute deflected effort to give Stevenage the lead. In the end they went on to beat their opponents Plymouth Argyle 2-1, with Ogilvie’s first professional goal.

Ogilvie only arrived from Tottenham three weeks ago but his loan spell expires next week. Given his form however Stevenage might be getting in touch with Tottenham regarding an extension to the teenager’s stay in the fourth tier of English football.
