Report: Tottenham’s Son Heung-min could have joined Blackburn six years ago

Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min could have been playing for Blackburn Rovers, according to a report.

Newly-signed Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min could have joined Blackburn Rovers six years ago, according to The Sun.

It has been reported by the British tabloid that the South Korea international was at Blackburn’s academy six years ago.

According to The Sun, Rovers would have had to sign Son for £20,000 from Hamburg and then send him out on loan to a European club as he did not have a work permit at the time.

Good signing for Tottenham Hotspur

Son, who is a highly-rated player and can play as a winger or as a forward, joined Tottenham from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old was one of the best attackers in the Bundesliga last season, helping Bayer finish fourth in the league table last season.

The South Korea international scored 11 goals and created 39 chances in 30 league appearances during the 2014-15 campaign.

Son had a pass accuracy of 76% and a shot accuracy of 54%, and won 30 headers, 49 dribbles and 30 tackles.
