Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Jordan Pickford from Sunderland, according to The Sun.
It has been reported by the British tabloid that Villa manager Tim Sherwood’s “spies” are keeping tabs on the 21-year-old goalkeeper, who is currently on loan at Preston North End.
The youngster joined newly-promoted Championship outfit Preston on a season-long loan deal from Sunderland in the summer transfer window.
Pickford has been playing well for Simon Grayson’s side, having kept three clean sheets in five Championship appearances so far this season.
The England Under-21 international goalkeeper has made on average one save per goal and 0.80 saves per game.
The Sun claims that Tottenham are also interested in signing Pickford, but the report does not state when the North London outfit or Villa are planning to make their move.
Since Pickford’s loan deal with Preston runs until the end of the season, one suspects that Villa and Tottenham will have to wait until next summer to sign him.
The youngster’s current contract with Sunderland runs until June 2018, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
