Liverpool play-maker Philippe Coutinho came off the bench for Brazil on Saturday night to help his country to a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Costa Rica.
The Reds star started the match among the substitutes along with Liverpool teammate Roberto Firmino, but while the summer signing was not called upon Coutinho played the last 23 minutes of normal-time.
By then Brazil had scored the only goal of the game courtesy of forward Hulk, but Costa Rica kept them at bay thereafter, although the visitors offered little at the opposite end of the pitch.
Chelsea midfielder Willian and Manchester City player Fernandinho started the game and were the only other representatives from the Premier League on show for Brazil, with Arsenal centre-back Gabriel Paulista also an unused substitute.
The match showed that Brazil have plenty to work on in the months ahead but they certainly have a new wave of players that could take future tournaments by storm.
The Liverpool player is likely to be integral to that and when he came on he caused trouble with his quick footwork.
