Noel Hunt was on target for Southend United against Peterborough United in League One on Saturday afternoon.

Former Leeds United striker Noel Hunt has taken to social networking site Twitter to express his delight at helping Southend United to victory in League One on Saturday afternoon.

Southend registered their first league victory of the season, as they got the better of Peterborough United 2-1 at home.

Adam Barrett put the Shrimpers in the lead at Roots Hall just past the half-hour mark when he found the target from close range.

Former Leeds man Hunt made it 2-0 to Southend on 70 minutes when he headed home Ben Coker's free kick.

Marcus Maddison pulled one back for Peterborough late on, but it was too little too late for the visitors.

Hunt may be playing in League One at the moment, but he is still keeping a close eye on the happenings in the Championship.

The Republic of Ireland international striker appears to be following one of his former clubs Leeds and believes that the Whites are doing well.

Leeds are 10th in the Championship at the moment with seven points from five matches.
