15-year-old Tottenham player Jon Dinzeyi praised after first under-18 outing

A young Tottenham Hotspur talent made another step up this weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur’s under-18 coach Kieran McKenna has been speaking to the club’s official website after his side’s 3-0 defeat to Fulham on Saturday.

The young Spurs side conceded goals scored by Josh Walker, Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson and Stephen Humphrys but McKenna was still full of praise for one player in particular after he made the step up from under-16 level.

That player was young centre-back Jonathan Dinzeyi who had never before played for the under-18s but did not look out of place.

Bearing in mind the player is still only 15 – his birthday is later this month – he is likely to be very pleased with his individual performance if not the end result.

Speaking to tottenhamhotspur.com, McKenna said, “I thought Jon Dinzeyi came out in credit in his first appearance at this level. He’s still learning the position of centre-half so he did well.”

McKenna went on to say that although he started with a very young side this weekend he expected the players to perform at a higher level moving forward, and when you consider the teenagers who have previously been under the Tottenham coach’s wing he clearly knows how to bring out the best in them.

Tottenham have some of the brightest young talents in the game and although it is very early days, Dinzeyi will be hoping to one day emulate them.
