Kaboul knows the USA international from their time together at Tottenham Hotspur and while Yedlin has only made one cameo appearance for Spurs’ first-team to date, fans are eager to see what he can do when played regularly in the top flight.
Yedlin can play at both right-back and on the wing and his blistering pace should be a real asset to a Sunderland side seeking to climb up the Premier League table after a disappointing start to the new campaign.
Speaking to SAFC.com, Kaboul said of the Tottenham youngster, “He is a very good signing for us; he is very quick. He is a great full-back and will bring a lot to the club.
“He has a lot of quality and that will only benefit the squad.”
Yedlin previously played for Seattle Sounders where he featured 69 times, scoring three goals and providing six assists in the process.
Still only 22, Yedlin has already earned 19 senior caps for the USA, and while Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino clearly feels he is not yet ready for the North London club’s first-team an impressive spell at Sunderland could quickly change that.
Kaboul certainly rates him, and Yedlin will surely know the importance of this loan move in defining his Tottenham future.
