Tottenham morning news: Lloris admits he could have left; Townsend fears for England place

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Tottenham Hotspur

According to a report from the Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend fears he may have to leave White Hart Lane in January to ensure he earns a spot in England’s Euro 2016 squad.

The 24-year-old winger has played 86 matches for Tottenham, scoring 11 goals and providing 14 assists in that time, but he is yet to feature for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season and he is said to have been included in a potential player-plus-cash deal for West Bromwich Albion’s Saido Berahino prior to deadline day.

That move did not transpire but Townsend’s time in North London may well be coming to an end if he is not in Pochettino’s immediate plans.

In other news, the Daily Mail has published comments from Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, in which he hinted that he could have left the club this summer.

Lloris was linked with Manchester United if David de Gea were to move on, and the French international later said, “There could have been a development there but the desired movement did not happen.”

Whatever that means, Tottenham fans are sure to be pleased they still have Lloris in their ranks as they look to put their disappointing start to the new season behind them and quickly get their first win of the campaign.
