Newcastle's Moussa Sissoko celebrates France victory but reflects on injured teammate

The Newcastle United player had mixed emotions after France's latest win.

Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko has taken to Twitter to celebrate France’s 1-0 victory against Portugal on Friday evening.

However, the Magpies star also took the time to send his best wishes to international teammate Nabil Fekir after the Lyon player ruptured knee ligaments early in the first half.

That is a huge blow for all concerned and Fekir now looks set for a lengthy spell on the side-lines.

Writing on Twitter on Saturday morning, Sissoko said, “Beautiful collective victory yesterday marred by serious injury (to) Nabil, a big thought for him, I’m with you.”

Sissoko played 80 minutes for his country before being replaced by Mathieu Valbuena who scored the only goal of the game five minutes later, so it proved to be an inspired substitution by France coach Didier Deschamps.

Sissoko has featured three times for Newcastle so far this season, playing against Southampton, Swansea City and Arsenal but sitting out the match against Manchester United with a groin injury.

He is an integral player for both club and country and it will be interesting to see how he does for Newcastle this season in the build-up to Euro 2016.
