Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney created history with England this evening, with Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer congratulating him.
Tottenham Hotspur legend Gary Lineker has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney creating history with England tonight.
Rooney equalled Sir Bobby Charlton's all-time goals record this evening, as England qualified for the Euro 2016 finals with an easy victory over San Marino away from home.
The United captain scored from the penalty spot as early as the 13th minute, as the Three Lions registered a 6-0 win in the Euro 2016 Group E qualifier against San Marino at the San Marino Stadium in Serravalle.
The victory means that England have booked their place in the group stage of the 2016 European Championship, with Rooney now just a goal away from becoming the all-time leading goalscorer for the Three Lions.
Former Tottenham striker Lineker was following the game, and this was his reaction to Rooney’s feat on Twitter:
Enjoyed your company @WayneRooney . Did you have to move on so soon?

Trying to get used to only being the 3rd highest goalscorer....so humiliating!

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer was also following the match, and he congratulated Rooney for his achievement on Twitter:
Congratulations to @waynerooney on equalling the record with a penalty. At least he didn't dink it eh @GaryLineker?! #eng #sanmarino #49
