Wales fans react on Twitter to Ben Davies' performance v Cyrpus, worry about Tottenham impact

There was a mixed reaction to the Tottenham Hotspur defender's display.

Ben Davies played 90 minutes as Wales beat Cyprus to edge closer to sealing Euro 2016 qualification.

The left-back was part of a side which kept a clean sheet, but his performance was not without fault, putting in a particularly nervous first half display.

The defender has played 90 minutes in three Premier League games this season, but was dropped from Tottenham's last game as Danny Rose returned from injury.

Davies signed a year ago but has been unable to hold down the first choice left-back spot, with Rose showing a marked improvement in the face of the Welshman's competition for his role.

Wales fans were not overly impressed with his performance in Cyprus, suggesting he looked a better player at Swansea City.

There were a number of comments suggesting his career has got off track at Tottenham, with a lack of regular playing time affecting his sharpness.

If Wales do qualify for next year's tournament this will be something he will want to resolve, but it is also good to remember this is early on in the season with many players still pushing to reach peak fitness and form.
