Canadian-born Aird has been with Rangers since he was 16 and made his first-team debut just 12 months later, and he has since featured over 80 times for the Glasgow giants.
However, he has only been on the fringes since Mark Warburton took charge and could now be destined for a move away from the club.
HITC Sport understands that League One promotion chasers Barnsley had a bid rejected for Aird last month, but they are still keen and could launch a loan bid when the window opens next week. There is also interest, however, in the Championship and from other sides in the third tier.
The likes of Bolton Wanderers, Rotherham United, Sheffield United and Bradford City are all understood to be keen, however, Rangers still hold Aird in high regard and they will only consider loaning him out with no options to buy.
