Chris Wood was on target for Leeds United against Derby County at the iPro Stadium in the Championship last weekend.

Former Middlesbrough winger Peter Beagrie has described Leeds United striker Chris Wood as a leader on Sky Sports.

Beagrie made his comments on Sky Sports 5 following the Whites’ 2-1 victory over Derby County away from home at the iPro Stadium in the Championship last Saturday.

“The leaders like (Sol) Bamba and Chris Wood, who is only a young man himself but has played a lot of football at this level, came to the fore,” said Beagrie on Sky Sports 5 while analysing on Leeds' victory over the Rams.

Wood moved to West Yorkshire outfit Leeds from Premier League side Leicester City in the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old New Zealand international striker has made a good start to his Leeds career and has already been among the goals.

Wood has scored three goals and created seven chances in five Championship appearances for the Whites so far this season.

The latest goal for the former West Bromwich Albion striker came on Saturday afternoon, when he scored the winner against Derby away from home at the iPro Stadium in the Championship.

The former Hamilton Wanderers man found the target in the 88th minute with a superb effort, as Leeds registered a 2-1 victory over the Rams.
