The Italian international could still join Forest imminently.
As Michail Antonio looked set to be on his way out of Nottingham Forest last week the club were being linked with some potential replacements that could arrive despite the transfer embargo restrictions in place at the City Ground.
One such name was Ezequiel Schelotto.
FC Inter News reported that a deal to see Schelotto leave Inter for Swiss side FC Sion did not get done in time but that they were hoping to send him out on loan to England, as the transfer window remained open.
Schelotto joined Inter in 2013 after three impressive years at Atalanta. Born in Argentina he has played in Italy since 2008, and in August 2012 he even made his international debut for the Azzurri – featuring against England in a friendly.
However, no deal was ever agreed and Forest appeared to have no chance of signing him with the transfer window now shut.
However, that might not be the case.
Inter Milan, in fact, ended up releasing Schelotto – meaning he is now free to enter into an agreement with any club regardless of the transfer window being shut.
Schelotto underwent a full pre-season campaign with Inter and will therefore be in good shape and has pedigree, so maybe this rumour should be reignited into reality.
