Former Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to Wales’s victory over Cyprus away from home on Thursday evening.
The former Tottenham man scored the only goal of the Euro 2016 Group B qualifier at the GSP Stadium in Nicosia, as Chris Coleman’s side won 1-0.
Bale, who joined Spanish giants Real Madrid from Premier League outfit Spurs in the summer of 2013, was delighted with the Dragons’ win and posted the following message on Twitter:
Must say a great win for wales last night, great goal from bales,I'm really pleased for them xx good luck to scotland&ENGLAND XXX— Paul Gascoigne (@gazza8gascoigne) September 4, 2015
Over the course of the 90 minutes in Nicosia, visiting Wales had 47% of the possession, took six shots of which five were on target, and won three corners.
The win against Cyprus means that Wales are now at the top of Group B with 17 points from seven matches, three points clear of Belgium, who are second in the league standings at the moment.
Victory over Israel at the Cardiff City Stadium in Cardiff on Sunday will seal qualification to the Euro 2016 group stage for Wales.
