Can Dele Alli take Tottenham to the Champions League?
Now his former youth director at MK Dons Mike Dove has backed him to become a star in the Champions League in the future.
Alli netted in with draw with Leicester City last weekend, and made an impact in pre-season by starring against Real Madrid and nutmegging former Spurs star Luka Modric, a sign he is not daunted by any stage or opposition.
Dove said: "Our club (MK Dons) is only 10 or 11 years old, so in the academy we're looking at who will be our first Champions League player. I get the feeling it's going to be him. I'm really confident."
Considering the huge strides Alli has made already in his career, it is hard to believe he will never play in Europe's elite competition.
The responsibility for this lies with Tottenham to put a side around him to get there, and while Alli could be capable of hauling the club into the top four too, they will want to ensure the midfielder stays put for the rest of his career and never has to leave to fulfil such an ambition.
